At Lakselaget (Salmon Club) DC Chapter we are professional women who swim against the current and college and university students who are also Norwegian, of Norwegian descent, or are interested in contemporary Norwegian issues and all things Norwegian who are located in the metropolitan Washington DC area. We meet the first Saturday of each month October through May to network, mentor, eat salmon (and other Norwegian delicacies), and enjoy information from a variety of noteworthy, fascinating and fun speakers. Topics range from the arts to health, to history, to sports, to heritage and beyond.
Lakselaget's founding chapter in Minnesota, http://www.lakselaget.org offers scholarships to Norwegian students who wish to study in Minnesota or the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks or Minnesotans desiring to study in Norway. It is also open to providing grants to Minnesota professional women who have the opportunity to intern in Norway and, of course, to Norwegians interning in Minnesota. The grants are meant to supplement wages lost for experience gained. More information is available here http://www.lakselaget.org/pages/foundation.html
Please use our Contact Page if you live in the metropolitan DC area and would like more information about our events and activities.
Special thanks goes to Innovation Norway and www.VisitNorway.com for use of their gorgeous photos of Norwegian scenes and products on our website including the banner photo at the top of pages at www.lakselagetDC.org.
